A LIFELONG York resident described by her family as the world’s best Yorkshire pudding-maker has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Edna Cox was surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren yesterday as the milestone was marked at the Oliver House residential care home in Bishophill, where she now lives.

Having grown up in Marygate, she later worked at Terry’s chocolate factory and the Poppleton Gate and County Hospitals. Her daughter, Kathleen Stansfield, said: “Nobody can make Yorkshire puddings like her.

“The staff at Oliver House have been absolutely wonderful since she moved there in 2001 and we’d like to thank them for everything they have done for her.”
