WHO would have thought it? The big Bash Street Kids bassist from Hull's happy harmonising Housemartins had been a joke, changing his name from posho Quentin to normal Norman and dancing awkwardly in their cheap and cheerful videos.
Yet when Norman reinvented himself as Fatboy Slim, he became the commercial face of British dance, the big beat boss of Brighton beach.
Swimming against the tide, Fatboy has retained faith in the sugar rush of the single, and his dancefloor Midas touch is affirmed by this retrospective accommodating his hit remixes of Cornershop's Brimful Of Asha and Groove Armada's booty-shaking I See You Baby.
The formula is slim, as new single That Old Pair Of Jeans affirms, but Norman's best booming beats and sassy samples go straight to the hip quicker than chocolate.
