Updated: THE biker killed in a head-on collision on York’s outer ring road has been identified by police as Thomas Lee Hodgson, from Clifton.

A spokesman from North Yorkshire Police said 26-year-old Mr Hodgson was riding a red Kawasaki ZX900 when he was in collision with an Audi A3 on the A1237 at about 9.15pm on Monday.

Police and paramedics were called, but Mr Hodgson was pronounced dead at the scene, near the junction of the A19.

The spokesman also confirmed the motorcycle had been stolen from an address in Rawcliffe on Tuesday, August 24, and police were trying to trace the movements of the bike, registration number T42KNW, in the days before the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Dave Willey, who is leading the investigation into the collision, said there were other motorists on the road at the time.

“Just prior to the collision there were at least two other cars and a motorcycle on the A1237,” he said.

“Following the collision a silver Vauxhall Corsa containing a number of young women stopped at the scene. However, they left the area before officers had a chance to take their details.”

Police have asked anyone who saw the bike prior to the incident to phone Traffic Constable Chris Scott on 0845 6060247.
