FIREFIGHTERS were called to a derelict farm for the fifth time in two months.

Arsonists struck again at the former mushroom farm at Gateforth Park, near Thorpe Willoughby, on Wednesday, setting fire to a building measuring about 200 metres by 50 metres.

Firefighters from Selby returned yesterday morning after the fire flared up again due to hotspots.

Selby Fire Station watch manager Tony Walker said: “This is an arson attack and it puts a huge strain on our resources. Accidental fires are what we’re here for, but deliberate fires are preventable and I don’t think some people realise the pressure they put on us.”
