A TAX expert swapped his calculator for a crucifix when he played Jesus Christ in this year’s York Mystery Plays.
Adrian Widdowson, a tax specialist with leading Yorkshire accountants Garbutt & Elliott, took the part of Christ in the Guild of Scriveners’ production of The Incredulity Of Thomas over the past two weekends.
This was the third time he had appeared in the Mystery Plays, playing Christ in 2002 and a priest in the Temple in 2006.
“I find it a very relaxing contrast to my day job,” he said.
“We have had some excellent reviews this year, as well as audience members from Europe and the United States.
“I feel very humble in taking part in a tradition which stretches back to the 14th century.
