A GROUP of school children have been celebrating their creative talents after winning a prestigious award.
Pupils at Carr Junior School, in Ostman Road, have been awarded the Arts Mark Gold Award by the Arts Council England.
Caroline Ryder, head teacher of the school, commented that she was “extremely pleased” that the school’s “outstanding arts provisions” had been recognised.
The award is given to different schools each month to highlight the opportunities they offer in art, drama, dance and music.
Carr Junior School was recognised for its extra-curricular clubs, arts weeks and various arts classes, which include a partnership with York Theatre Royal.
