A MAJOR international health conference is coming to York next week.

More than 50 of the top prostate cancer research scientists and clinicians from across the globe will attend a three-day conference at the Royal York Hotel on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The meeting is designed to encourage scientists and health professionals to discuss new techniques and ideas which might be used to help diagnose and treat the disease.

Among those attending will be Professor Norman Maitland, of the University of York, a world authority on how the behaviour of stem cells in the human body is linked to prostate cancer, who said: “The cross-fertilisation of ideas on treatments can be extremely useful.”
