BANK Holiday visitors to Scarborough Castle will be taken on a nostalgic return journey back to wartime Britain.
English Heritage says visitors can mingle with Allied soldiers and come face to face with the Nazi foe, amid authentic period displays of vehicles, fashions, food and music from the 1940s.
The battlefield will be recreated in skirmishes between Allied forces and the Germans, courtesy of the Northern World War II Association and the East Yorkshire Regiment Re-enactment Society. Weather permitting, there will also be flypasts by a Hurricane fighter tomorrow and on Bank Holiday Monday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
