POLICE investigating the murder of a North Yorkshire postmistress say they have completed all forensic examinations and searches – but will continue house-to-house inquiries.

Former York woman Diana Garbutt, 40, was found dead in the upstairs living room of the shop and post office in Melsonby, near Richmond, on March 23.

Her husband, Robin, 44, said he made the tragic discovery after an armed robbery, which saw a raider confront him in the store before escaping with a substantial amount of cash from the safe.

Anybody with information about the murder should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247.
