VISITOR attractions in and around York reported a good turn out of visitors on Easter Monday despite a damp start to the day.

At the Castle Museum there was the chance to make your own Easter nests in the kitchen studio, while at Beningbrough Hall families took part in an Easter Trail and Easter Olympics, including an egg and spoon race for all ages.

Visitor services manager Jacquelyn Crofts said: “It’s been really busy. We have had a really good weekend.

“It was a bit quiet in the morning because of the weather but people just came out prepared in their wellies and it was really good.

“On Sunday we had nearly 2,000 visitors and on Bank Holiday Monday we had about 1,500.”
