A BUDDING businesswoman will make her debut today, less than a year after a heart transplant.

Claire Davies, 34, of Acomb, York, has set up her own business selling home-made jams, preserves and crafts, trading under the name Grace.

She will be behind her stall for the first time today, when she joins about 20 other traders at the Easter crafts and produce market, at Castle Howard.

Claire was featured in The Press last month, supporting our Lifesavers campaign on organ donation.

She underwent a heart transplant last August, after 20 years battling hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

She said then that the new business was “the start of the new part of me”.

Claire is keen to hear from local fruit and vegetable producers, or allotment-holders, who could be potential suppliers.

She can be contacted on 07928 122079.

Today’s event is from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
