Clifton Cycling Club won the team prize at the Team Swift time trial.

Two-and-a-half laps of a tough 32.5-mile course based around Pocklington and Millington saw Charlie Evans take second place with a time of 1hr 25min 47sec. The event was won by Ian Dalton, of Cherry Valley RT.

Evans' efforts, and those of team-mates Paul Musgrave and Pete Skelton, helped Clifton win the team prize.

Fifteen-year-old Clifton rider Matt Shipley came second in the junior category. The winner was Luke Barber,17, of Knaresborough RT.

Arnie Pearson, of Clifton, came second in the over-60 category.

Clifton's Kit Gilham finished tenth in the Four Dales road race at Hutton-le-Hole. The Elite race was won by Lewis Meadows, of Cleveland Wheelers, with Alastair Kay (York Cycleworks) second.

Pete Skelton took the fourth veteran prize at the gruelling Teesdale Mountain time trial near Barnard Castle.

The first of Clifton's Thursday evening time-trial series is on May 18 with a flat ten-mile circuit near Sheriff Hutton. Check out the website www.cliftoncc.org or call Paul Musgrave on 01904 750821 for details.
