ACCORDING to Coun Galloway, "ftr brings the most modern public transport system that's available - certainly in this city, and possibly in the world".
Well, it certainly didn't look like that as I tried crossing Heslington Road one lunchtime. The "Purple People Eater" was stuck outside the Spar shop with traffic gridlocked in both directions and car horns blaring as frustrated drivers were unable to move.
York's road system was not designed for huge monstrosities like ftr and I fear such scenes will be repeated all over the city. Unless, of course, Coun Galloway combats these problems by banning road tax payers from using any of the ftr routes... nothing would surprise me!
