WITH reference to the article 'Superbus Has Only One Extra Seat' (The Press, May 2).
Will the citizens of York and particularly those using the number four bus route have to stand for this?
They will according to Coun Steve Galloway and Peter Edwards, of First York, who seem convinced that more standing room on the ftr is a safer and more comfortable way to travel and is a giant leap forward in the evolution of public transport.
As to the ftr bus stop parking bays, I passed an ftr parked in a stop bay in Acomb this week and it was noticeable that the bay, even with the ftr parked in it, could have parked another single bus behind it in the same bay.
No wonder Mr Grierson, of Green Lane Carpets, has cause to complain.
If this farce of a longer bus, with "more standing" on the bus and the waste of £1.3 million on road works, is a leap forward in public transport, then the sooner those fronting it take a running jump the better off York will be.
