CENTURIES by Robert Mackle (107) and Robert Nicholson (117no) saw Studley Royal amass 336-4 at Duncombe Park in division one of the Hunters the estate Agent York and District Senior Cricket League.

Not surprisingly the huge total was beyond the home side who were bowled out for 144, Andrew Mackle taking 5-65.

After impressing in the opening game of the season, York's batting was much less successful when they were dismissed for 143 by Pocklington. Kev Hinch took 3-40 and Ted Donkin 4-35 for Pock while Pete Bainbridge (37) and Brendon Ledgeway (30) were the pick of the Clifton Park side's batting. But York's efforts were nullified when Ian Camwell (65) and Neil Jackson (28no) combined to see Pocklington to a five-wicket victory.

Runs flowed in the first half of the game at Hornsea as the home side amassed 286-6 against visiting Osbaldwick.

Unfortunately the second half flow came from the weather as rain stopped play with Osbaldwick's promising reply having reached 113-1 in 23 overs.

The two big innings came from Paul Clappison with 88 and 15-year-old Ben Wallis, who demonstrated his fine talent with an unbeaten 81. With skipper Paul Johnson 31 and Sam Holliday 25no also contributing, the Osbaldwick bowlers had a torrid time with only Dyran Joshi emerging with credit as he took 4-93. Richard Carew (45no) and Mick Raso (37no) were mounting a promising reply before the weather had the final say.

In the division three derby game between Easingwold and Crayke, the latter overcame the absence of ill skipper Jonathon Wright to win by seven wickets with ex-Easingwold player Ian Dobson hitting an unbeaten 63 as he and Pete Carr (45no) featured in an unbeaten partnership of exactly 100.

Earlier, Kevin Hollinrake had hit his second successive half century in making 56 as Dave Allitt and Paul Hutchinson each took 3-35 and Pete Carr 3-33. Graeme Dawson kick-started Crayke's reply with 32.

Stillington's Matt Coulson grabbed 8-40 to wipe out Clifton Alliance for only 51 after Tim Jarvis, with 53, had seen Stillington to 175 all out with Rich Carroll taking 3-62 for the York side.

Sheriff Hutton's Richard Armitage tore through the Acomb batting line-up as he took 6-34 to dismiss the home team for 81 with only John Beech offering any measure of resistance as he made 25. Ed Taylor then made 40no to see Sheriff comfortably home for the loss of two wickets.
