It is no wonder that the Liberal Democrat Executive in York has voted to locate a homeless hostel in a residential area (Union Terrace Car Park).
After the Barbican fiasco, and the saga of the council tax capping, they need to sell off the Reynards Garage, in Piccadilly, to the highest bidder to fund their new £30 million offices.
When will these political parties learn that they are elected to serve local residents?
Whilst we all recognise the importance of Arc Light to the City of York, surely it is not beyond the wit of our elected representatives to realise the dangers of locating it in a residential area.
I urge those involved at the council to step forward and tell the truth about the reasons why Union Terrace was selected over the much more appropriate site in Piccadilly.
