OVINGTON openers Barry Steel (91) and Tom Cookson made a blistering start in the HPH York Vale Cricket League division two game against York.
They put on 129 and Nadeem Sadiq plundered 46 as Ovington amassed 240-4. Sadiq crowned a memorable day with 6-29 as York crumbled to 101 all out as Ovington won by 139 runs.
Despite reaching 204-8, Kelfield were taken to the wire by Copmanthorpe. Neil Atkinson (81) and M Richardson (65) provided the bulk of the Kelfield runs while David Hughes took 6-61 for Copmanthorpe, who fell short of their target as M Rhodes bowled throughout to take 6-83.
There was a thrilling last-ball finish at Clifton Alliance where Richard Kerrison smacked 14 from the final over to take Stockton & Hopgrove to victory.
There was another last-over finish at Ben Johnson where Thixendale sneaked home with four balls to go. Earlier, J Agnew hit 63 for Ben Johnson while Mike Walker carried his bat for 59 for Thixendale.
A half century from Rob Bielby shored up Stillingfleet's disappointing 130 and he then took four early wickets as Hemingbrough wobbled at 60-5. But Rod Alderidge and Ryan Adamson both reached 30 to steer Hemingbrough home by five wickets.
