In response to Brian McCusker's letter entitled the Green Vision For Clifford's Tower (May 2).
I am in total agreement with him. It would be nice if people could come to York and relax in the open air of a park and listen to the bandstand with open-air cafes and Clifford's Tower as a backdrop.
In reality, people endure the same old buskers performing the same old acts, year in, year out.
As for the "entertainment" laid on in Parliament Street, I can only assume people are passing the time of day watching them. I admit that some of the performers are good and I have even bought CDs from them, but I am afraid York does lack the "I can relax somewhere" space.
And before somebody mentions York's Museum Gardens, there is about as much atmosphere in there as the library that is attached to it!
