I JUST had to write in reply to Gill Bean's letter (Why Does It Take So Long To Replace A Bin? May 2).
I would not wish to upset Mrs Bean, but sadly she may be in for a long wait yet.
My family and I moved into a new house last October and have been trying to get City of York Council to provide us with a black bin ever since.
The builders of our property ordered and paid for a bin before we even moved into the property and, despite numerous telephone calls between our builders, myself and council staff, we are no further forward.
I have been told on about three occasions that the bin has been delivered, but sadly, unless the bin has wheeled itself off down the road after delivery, in a bid to escape, that is total fabrication.
Finally, about two weeks ago, after six months of waiting, we took delivery of a recycling box, but sadly no bin.
The city council may be glad to hear that I have given up and am not going to bother the local authority again, because basically I don't know what else to do.
I am tired of wasting my time and money on telephone calls to the council staff when absolutely nothing is achieved.
I just wish someone could tell me exactly what the problem is.
