SURE-SHOT Simon Dyson returned to blistering form to heave himself into the top 20 on the European Tour.

The North Yorkshire golf ace, who won the Indonesian Open crown last month for his inaugural Euro championship success, produced a stunning inward nine that yielded four birdies in seven holes for a last-round 68 that gave him joint fifth place in the BMW Asian Open in China.

Dyson, who has previously excelled in the tournament with a second place two years ago, finished five-under (72 71 72 68) to be crowned the top Englishman alongside Paul Casey in a star-studded field.

Dyson's reward was a cheque for £36,800 to take his earnings so far this year to £195,000 and more significantly, accord him 20th place in the coveted European Tour's Order of Merit - his highest-ever ranking.

The BMW tournament was eventually won by Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Gastano, who edged out Sweden's Henrik Stenson at the first-hole of a play-off after both finished on eight under at the Tomson Pudong GC in Shanghai.
