AFTER every other aspect of York nightlife has been reformed and regulated, licensing bosses have turned their attention to taxis. The review is overdue.
Taxi firms provide a crucial service for the city. But people have long complained about the inconvenience of some ranks - and the queue for a cab has often proved to be the flashpoint for late-night trouble. One of the best ranks is at York's railway station, but you need a cab to reach it from many parts of the city. Other pick-up points are badly signposted. It is time to hail a better future for York's cabbies and passengers.
