WASTE management company Yorwaste has joined a national scheme designed to help industry improve its safety record.
The Northallerton-based company recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme that recognises high standards of health and safety practice among UK contractors.
Under the system, businesses undergo a vetting process that examines their health and safety procedures and track record for safe practice.
Those companies meeting the standard are included on a database that is only accessible to registered users via a website, www.safecontractor.com.
Employer organisations can then vet potential contractors before they visit the site.
