NESTL Rowntree Ladies had mixed fortunes in division two of the York and District Badminton League.

The confectionery team lost out 6-3 at Market Weighton, but then bounced back to score a maximum victory over Fulfordgate.

Sue Smith and Miriam Beales starred for Market Weighton with three straight wins for 90-38, while Joan Emmerson and Helen Shepherd led the confectionery charge against Fulfordgate with three straight wins for 90-25.

University Students 'A' gained a much-needed men's one success with a 5-4 away result over Selby/Drax 'A'. Chris Hunt and Jonathan Hiley swung the match for the campus ranks with a straight games maximum for 92-54.

Riverside 'A' were good value for a 5-4 win at Selby/Drax 'A' in mixed one. Geoff Oxley and Margaret Sinclair continued their good understanding for the Poppleton-based club with a hard-fought maximum to return 115-84.

Clifton 'A' scored back to back away wins. A 5-4 win over University Students 'A' was closely followed by a 6-3 triumph over Nestl Rowntree 'A'. Gill McIntosh and Daniel Woolfson excelled for Clifton in both matches. They took all six rubbers for a combined total of 180-92.

Selby Jubilee 'A' scored a comfortable 9-0 home win over University Students 'B' in mixed two. Neil Richardson and Claire Frost topscored for Jubilee once again with three wins for 101-60, James Barrett and Sarah Softley responded well for the Students.

Middlethorpe broke their duck in mixed five with a 9-0 home win over Terry's. Ray Oxley and Hazel Quarrie hit top form with three straight wins for 92-46.
