I READ Mr Tyler's letter with a feeling of incredulity (February 10). With petrol approaching £1 a litre (of which the Government takes 60p), any car owner cuts his journeys to a minimum.
We do not need self-appointed experts like Mr Tyler telling us to reduce our journeys, we are already doing so.
Every day, if I am going to use my car, I try to work out how many errands I can do in this one journey, ie can I include the library in my trip to the supermarket?
With regard to his remarks about York's linear car park, aka the A1237, the only time I use this road is if I am visiting a site on the A1237 or, very rarely, travelling to Harrogate or Thirsk. The rest of the time I drive through town; it is quicker even during the evening rush hour.
