THERE was an upset in the York Squash Association women's championship semi-finals between team-mates.
Number three seed Suzi Booth out-manoeuvred her Dunnington team-mate and championship second seed Nicola Lotten in a 30-minute tussle at their home club.
Booth, who plays number two for Dunnington as opposed to Lotten at number one, displayed keener accuracy in the longer rallies to win 9-5 9-5 9-7.
She will now meet defending champion Kathryn Cordell in tonight's final at Dunnington.
Number one seed Cordell took just 12 minutes to dispose of fifth-seeded rival Denise Bigg 9-0 9-0 9-6.
The scores did not reflect the rallies, but Bigg just could not prise out any points on her 'hand-out' service until the third game as Cordell's controlled performance held sway.
Seeds, meanwhile, ruled the roost in the Plate semi-finals, where number one rated Helen Marsden beat Shirley Smith 9-3 9-3 9-1, and number two Fiona Howell edged out Karen Khreibani 6-9 9-0 9-5 9-6 .
ORDER OF PLAY
Plate final: 7.20pm Helen Marsden (1) v Fiona Howell (2).
Main final: 8pm Kathryn Cordell (1) v Suzi Booth (3).
