WITH reference to the closure of Acomb Gables, in York, for quite some time there was a fundraising campaign towards the purchase of a minibus.
If I recall correctly, nearly £10,000 was raised. Then it was decided the minibus was an unsuitable project for the residents.
The money should have been spent on what it was intended for, ie residents of the Gables. Perhaps that money could be spent on aiding the residents relocate.
Or perhaps the National Health Service has its sights on the proceeds to be thrown into its cash black hole?
As one of many regular users of the Gables coffee bar and thus a contributor to the minibus collection, should we not have the choice as to what happens to the cash collected?
