M BOWKER offers an interesting insight into far-right attitudes to working people (Letters, January 21).

Perhaps he might clarify: are all those who join trade unions "a Marxist rabble" - or only those who dare challenge the racist rubbish spouted by the British National Party (BNP)?

Members of Unite Against Fascism (UAF) are holding our annual conference on Saturday, February 18, at the TUC Conference Centre in London, with speakers including MPs Michael Meacher, Linda Riordan, and Sadiq Khan, the general secretaries of several leading unions, Sir Iqbal Sacranie, of the Muslim Council of Britain, the Lord Mayors of London and Stoke, Holocaust survivors Henry Guterman MBE and Leon Greenman OBE, and Dominique Walker, sister of Anthony Walker, the teenage student recently killed in a brutal racist attack in Liverpool.

I'm guessing Mr Bowker won't be attending, not his sort of crowd! But if any of your other readers would like to get involved in keeping our communities free from racism and fascism, full details are available from UAF on 020 7833 4916, visit the website www.uaf.org.uk, or phone me on 01904 553490.
