Clifton Ladies scored a comfortable 7-2 away win over University Students in division one of the York and District Badminton League.

Karen Broster and Helen Clarke were the pick of the Clifton pairs with three wins for 105-36.

Clifton Men's 'A' side also visited the University Students and were given a tough match before winning 5-4. Jonathan Hiley and Chris Hunt took three straight wins for 90-45 before Simon Christian and Richard McIntosh sealed the Clifton victory with a 15-12, 17-15 success over Matt Knight and Rob Walker.

Riverside hit good home form to record an 8-1 win over Shepherds in men's one. Craig Dobson and Geoff Oxley continued their good understanding with a straight games maximum for 90-44. Sean Ogley and James Pearson capped a good display by picking up the visitors' consolation.

Knavesmire kept in the promotion hunt in men's three with a 5-4 home win over Clifton 'B'. Martin Walker and Alan Smith took three Clifton wins for 119-100, after going to a third end in all three rubbers. John Major and Alastair Jewison clinched the home win with a five and nine triumph over D Rogers and B Clough.

Huntington 'A' were good value for a 7-2 home win over Sheriff Hutton in mixed two. Andrew Daffern and Linda Fairclough took both Sheriff wins in a good display. However, they lost out 11 and 10 to Paul Prest and Theresa Roberts-Hardy who went on to take all three for 90-50.

Selby Jubilee 'A' remained unbeaten after an 8-1 home win over local rivals Selby/Drax 'B'. Neil Richardson and Clair Frost were once again untroubled in taking three Jubilee wins for 90-12. John Formby and Gayle Bradley spared Selby/Drax blushes with a 15-13, 15-5 win over Andy Hatfield and Val Bell.

RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' gained revenge for an early season defeat with a comprehensive 9-0 home win over Huntington 'B' in mixed three.

Ian Sinker and Marlene Woodward were in great form for the Institute with three straight wins for 90-62.

Fulfordgate 'B' scored back to back wins in mixed five.

A 7-2 away win over Middlethorpe was followed by a 6-2 time-affected home win over Market Weighton. Geoff Hepworth and Sandra Whittaker were the best Fulfordgate pair against Middlethorpe with three wins for 99-76.

The home win against Market Weighton saw the brother and sister pairing of Sue Smith and Ian Hudson take the honours with both Weighton wins.

Shepherds 'B' emphasised their top spot with a 9-0 home win over Market Weighton and a 7-2 away triumph win over a spirited Terry's team.

Elaine Harvey and Phil Young took Shepherd maximums in both matches for a six rubber total of 180-42.
