IF Carol Miller thinks that food in York Hospital is disgusting (Letters, January 21), I sincerely hope she is not going on holiday to Malta.

I spent 11 days of my holiday in 2002 in St Luke's Hospital and the food was so bad that the locals would not eat it and had their meals brought in by family and friends.

Unfortunately it was not possible for me to avail myself of the same service. Having said that, the medical care and treatment was faultless.

Following my eventual return home I spent four days in York Hospital and by comparison the food that was served was positively five-star gourmet dining.
