I READ with alarm the letter about the plans to alter Museum Gardens (January 13).

Surely the ruins of St Mary's Abbey and other buildings in the gardens are listed and untouchable.

The surroundings, especially the trees, must be listed too, as they were planted as specimens to be enjoyed by all the citizens of York.

The gardens are ours and we want a say in the matter. It is time the Evening Press had one of your splendid campaigns - hands off Museum Gardens.
