AS a resident of York's St Peter's Quarter, I don't have any great objections to the big wheel on the proposed Leeman Road site.

What does get my back up is being subjected to another serving of fudge from our local council regarding yet another poorly consulted project.

When considering an installation of this scale, which is bound to have an effect on residents and businesses alike, does the council really think that eight A4 notices tied to lamp-posts equals an adequate consultation process?

In the past projects that might impact on the area have been communicated by leaflet drops and local meetings. What makes this case any different?

A cynic might conclude that it's yet another case of pound notes rolling in the eyes of the council when a little more thought to those affected by the outcome might not have gone amiss.

Hopefully, someone, somewhere, will now do the decent thing and provide a forum for those concerned to have their issues heard before this wheel is erected.

That way something might be able to be done at the build stage to placate those with apprehensions about the siting of this attraction.

When all is said and done, I can't help thinking the best use for this big wheel would be to put a number of council members in each viewing pod and roll it towards the Humber estuary. That way we'd all be out of our misery.
