The speedy Blue Maeve can provide Ryedale trainer Alan Brown with a long-awaited winner at Wolverhampton tomorrow.

Many will remember Brown as a highly successful jump jockey in the 1970s, when he was attached to the Peter Easterby stable and associated with such horses as Night Nurse, Sea Pigeon, Clayside and Ryeman.

In recent years he has built up a thriving horse transport business in the Malton area, but he also took out a training licence during last season.

Blue Maeve could become Brown's first winner by landing tomorrow's five furlong handicap race at Wolverhampton.

The six-year-old went down by only a length to Hollow Jo at Lingfield last time over six furlongs and will be much better suited returned to the minimum distance here. Micky Fenton has the mount.

Cimyla, my Nap selection, will be a popular choice in the £18,000 betdirect.co.uk Conditions Stakes, the richest race of the day in Britain.

Chris Wall's charge has never looked back since being gelded last summer and has won his last two all-weather track starts in the style of a horse still on the upgrade.

Recent Wolverhampton winner Vancouver Gold, trained at Middleham by Karl Burke, is worth noting in the Wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Selling Stakes with Robert Winston on board.
