I HAVE been a member of John Cooper's Stagecoach since the age of 12, eight years ago now, and have been involved in dozens of shows with the company.

The training and experience I received was absolutely essential to my future as a professional actor.

In 18 months from now I will finish my training at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, gaining a BA in acting.

Although I always enjoyed drama at school, Stagecoach was where I really learned that this is where my career was heading.

The skills I learned from the company allowed me to go on to study a BTEC national diploma in performing arts at York College before leaving the city to pursue my future in acting.

Had Stagecoach not been there for me, I have no idea where I would be now. John Cooper gave me confidence and a real belief in myself.

For me, and many others, Stagecoach was absolutely invaluable and my future depended on it.

We depend massively on our funds from the City of York Council, which has threatened to cut these funds severely.

This would, very sorrowfully, mean the end to a truly wonderful company.

There is nothing else like it in York. Please help to save our Stagecoach.

Streatham Hill,
