AFTER some warm words of welcome from the Rev Allan Hughes, the organist struck up the first bars of Once In Royal David's City and the Evening Press carol service began.
It was the first time we had organised such an event. But any early nerves were dispensed as the traditional carol filled St Denys Church.
We have many people to thank. Mr Hughes and his team, for opening the doors of this ancient church to us; the readers of the lessons; the 1st York St Margaret's Brownies, who sang Away In A Manger so beautifully; and all the readers who took up our invitation and gave so generously to our Guardian Angels Appeal.
Same time next year?
