Selby Town, unbeaten in six matches, will be hoping to leapfrog seventh-placed visitors Shirebrook Town in the table with a Northern Counties East League premier division victory tomorrow.

Robins assistant boss Gary Cygan said: "We are on a bit of a roll at the moment and hope to keep it going."

Jason Roughley and Tosh Reid both expect to be fit after coming off with knocks in the impressive President's Cup win at Pickering in midweek while midfielder Stuart Lee could return to the squad after injury.

Pickering player-boss Alex Mathie has ordered his team to get back to basics as they aim to overcome a blip in their season.

The Pikes ended their run of nine straight victories with a surprise 0-0 home draw to Glapwell and a painful 3-1 midweek President's Cup defeat to Selby at Mill Lane over the past six days.

Mathie believes a gradual drop in standards has been responsible for the last two results but hopes to get back to winning ways tomorrow with a premier division home match against Eccleshill United.

The former York City and Newcastle United striker, who is still confined to the dugout with a hamstring problem, said: "They have got to get back to what they were doing before, which was working hard and doing things simply rather than being over-elaborate.

"We have stopped working hard enough and are lacking that bit of quality in our passing. It's been happening for about three or four weeks but, in terms of results, we were getting away with it before."

James Drinkall is due to return for the Pikes with Mathie's former Minstermen striking team-mate Lee Nogan also likely to be available, pending on permission from Harrogate Town, who have no fixture this weekend.

Mathie is relieved that his team will not have to deal with the threat of former Eccleshill striker Ian Twitchen, who grabbed a hat-trick for new club Selby against the Pikes on Tuesday night.

The Town manager said: "Eccleshill are normally a tricky team but I'm sure they are missing him. If we perform and work hard, we know we are capable of beating anybody in this league but, if we don't, we might not get anything out of the game."

Harrogate Railway will be hoping to stay in touch with the leading pack after their home game against fifth-bottom Glasshoughton.

In division one, Tadcaster Albion will be bidding for a fourth straight league win when Staveley visit Ings Lane.

Manager Jim Collis will be without defenders Pete Vasey and Matty Cressey (both unavailable) and utility man Paul James is also doubtful after receiving hospital treatment on a back injury.

But centre-back Greg Anderson is available again after a six-week injury lay-off having played for the reserves and midfielder Dale Waddington returns after suspension.

Teenage right-back Steve Coates has also been promoted into the squad after impressing for the reserves and could make his first-team debut.

Goole will be out to end a run of 13 UniBond League first division matches without a clean sheet when they travel to Rossendale.

Nigel Danby's men have scored more goals than third-placed Fleetwood Town and fellow play-off contenders Colwyn Bay but have the division's worst defensive record, having shipped 41 goals in their 18 games.
