MR Blair wants us all to show respect. I could respect him a lot more if he stopped telling lies about the Iraq war.

In a press conference this week, he repeated the lie that it was only the threat of a French veto that stopped him getting a second UN resolution. As he well knows, this is nonsense. Nine votes were needed to pass a second resolution; the British could count on only four, so even if the French had threatened a veto "in any circumstances" (which they did not) it would have been irrelevant.
