I HAVE respect for Coun Tom Holvey. He has responded to my many phone calls over the last three years or so, regarding drunks who resided in council flats in Wains Road and caused distress to not only members of my family, but to everybody who walked by - including Coun Holvey, as he told me.
I can only hope his beliefs that the introduction of neighbourhood policing, which has allowed residents to influence policing in their streets (Letters, October 27), will stop the phone box in Wains Grove being smashed regularly, car mirrors being broken off and graffiti on Molys Kitchen youth club.
I appreciate that the Lib Dems can't alter national policies, but if our local council can't forward our fears and hopes, who can?
N Hillen,
Wains Road,
York.
