ONCE again the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire, Della Cannings, pictured, is blowing the horn of achievements supposedly made by the force ("A Force To Be Reckoned With", October 28).
But North Yorkshire Police and the police authority have taken a vast sum of money from the rate payers only to see it lodged in their piggy bank for projects in the future.
The big question must now be: if North Yorkshire Police are to be redeployed into another police force what is going to happen to the reserves of £30 to £35 million? Is it to be paid back to the ratepayers? I doubt it.
Mr P Richardson,
York Road,
York.
