I would like to ask City of York Council about the valuation on the site for Shipton Street School that it received ('School will fetch more than £125K', October 27).
I would be interested to know which company did the valuation, because it is obvious it is not the same valuers that do our houses for council tax valuations.
That site could be let off as small units or offices and I am sure the council would receive more in a year for rents than the £125,000 we have been led to believe the site is valued at.
Why is there such secrecy when it comes to the council selling off property?
You never get to know what it has been sold for. As tax payers, I think everybody should know.
City of York Council is keen to let you know how much the recycling is costing - but it will only publish the facts it wants you to know about.
You never get to know about the money wasted on some of its crazy ideas.
It's about time for a re-shuffle.
Mr W Fairclough,
The Village,
Strensall, York.
