TIMBER garden product specialist Sharp's World of Wood moved to a new headquarters on the A1079 York Road at Barmby Moor this week.

The £750,000 turnover company has sold its original premises in Melbourne, near York, and its six staff moved into premises once used by the firm as a show site.

There will be a dramatic expansion of the premises as new log cabins and sheds, summer houses and pergolas spring up in the grounds as demonstration products.

The site, next door to the York Road Garage, was seen as much better for passing trade than the Melbourne office.

Paul Stoner, managing director, said: "The past three years has seen us expand our retail operation selling direct to the public, and the response has been fantastic.

"So much so, we have decided to focus all our efforts on this aspect of the business.

"Our Melbourne site was ideal for our trade clients, but less suitable for our retail customers.

"Our new home gives us a far more accessible location - and all the room we could want to offer to provide a good choice for the public."

To celebrate the move and welcome customers to the new site, Sharp's is offering 25 per cent discount across the board on all existing stock.
