HOUSEWIVES' favourite Des Lynam got more than he bargained for when he dropped in to do a York book signing.
Des was at Borders in York to sign copies of his autobiography last night, but the new Countdown host's usual fanbase seemed to have deserted him on this occasion, as middle-aged women were distinctly thin on the ground.
Instead the presenter was confronted with five York lads sporting stick on Des-style moustaches.
For Alec Wright, Luke Beddows, Dave Raxworth, Tom Armstrong and Joe Coward it was a way of paying tribute to the legendary TV presenter.
Des, who has just filmed his first series of Countdown, said: "It is nice just now to have a break and York is a great place to do that, although it might be a bit hard to get around in the car, it's definitely easy on the eye - the architecture is just superb."
