MARCIA were pushed all the way by Acomb WMC, winning 5-4 after being 3-0 up at the break in their York John Smith's Sunday Football League division one clash.

On target for Marcia were Steve Ward (2), ex-York City player Kieran Darlow, Stephen Barlow and Tony Wetherall. Plucky Acomb's replies came from Neil Ducey (2), Danny Gray and Matt Chipchase.

Hounds FC maintained their grip at the summit of the division with a comfortable 4-2 win over Nestl Flag.

Roughley gave Hounds a flying start with a first minute goal and Harkin soon increased their lead. Flag pulled one back with a Martin penalty but Roughley and Forrest made it 4-1 before Martin netted a consolation goal in the second half.

Selby Olympia ran riot against Wigginton Grasshoppers with Steve Jeff (2), Liam Brown, Craig Anderson, Andy Addison and Mark Littler all on the scoresheet in a 6-0 win.

Ainsty Panthers bounced back to turn a 1-0 half-time deficit into a great 4-3 win over Severus SC.

Division two leaders Shipton stretched their unbeaten record with a 5-2 victory over Bishopthorpe with goals from Blake (2), West, Robinson and an own goal.

Cueball Fulford tamed Haxby Lions by thrashing them 8-1. A four-goal burst from Jon Sargent was the highlight with Matt Simpson, Sean Lyons, Tom Leatherbarrow and an own goal also getting in on the scoring act.

Deramore Arms gained their first win of the season by defeating Shoulder Of Mutton 3-2 with goalsby James Luck, Simon Archer and Rob Harte. Shoulder's scorers were Stephen Durbin and Dan Edmondson.

The big hitters in division three were Acomb Celtic, who moved into third place with a crushing 8-2 win over Bay Horse (Tadcaster).

Four-goal Ian Hufton led the way, and was supported by scorers Dave McManus, John Thornton, Neil Rankeillor and Iain Dickinson.

Leaders Skelton were made to sweat in their clash with Beeswing but held firm to come out 4-3 winners thanks to a Heels double and supporting goals from Pipe and Graham.

Barlby Athletic were leading 2-0 at half-time against F1 Racing who put up a teriffic fight in the second-half before going down 4-3. Graley (2), Paul Hughes and an own goal did the trick for Barlby with F's goals coming from Adrian Jordan, Neil Yeowart and Tom White.

Thomas's Hotel smashed Castle Howard Ox 10-0 in their division four match with a five-goal haul by Stevie Scott, four from Cliff Baxter and a header from Garry Smith doing the damage.

Carlton Tavern continued their good form with a convincing 4-0 win at Selby's Real Way Station thanks to goals by Simon Connell (2), Can Hussein and Wayne Gibson. Wanderers kept a hold on top spot after their comfortable 4-2 win over Albion Vaults which saw a hat-trick for Matt Hartas. Michael Cammidge got Wanderers' other goals while Andy White and Lee Ward replied for Vaults.

Division five leaders Acomb Rangers stated their title aspirations with a 7-2 demolition of New Earswick. Leigh Dutton's hat-trick plus a double each for Chris Haigh and Craig Ackroyd put the game beyond the villagers, for whom Dorman and Lindsey were on target.

Pocklington Rangers and Triangle Club fought out an eleven goal thriller, with the Triangle emerging 7-4 winners with goals from Thomas (3), Ball, Peacock, Saltmer and Hall. Pocklington's goals came from Ignjatovic (2) and Elvidge (2).

Acorn moved into second spot with a 3-2 defeat of Forest FC and Cawood disposed of Poppleton Road WMC 5-0 with two goals each from Knapton and McLoughlin.
