Everyone seems to have missed the point about the saga of Ann Reid and the traffic lights - especially the Evening Press with its duplicate run.
Having the lights on green would make very little difference because emergency vehicles always run the red lights anyway.
Giving them a run of green lights just means that all the other traffic will keep moving as well, impeding the emergency vehicles to the point where they are no quicker than they are running the reds.
