COUNCILLOR Ann Reid has, as your editorial stated, given excellent and devoted service to this city over many years.

She was a fine Lord Mayor and continues to give very substantially and spontaneously of her own time for scant personal reward.

She is a cheerful and dignified lady, with great integrity, and who is at least connected to the real world.

Having made one honest mistake, for which she has openly and promptly apologised, she should now be allowed to get on with her important role as a city councillor and executive member for planning and transport.

I say this without political bias but in the knowledge that Councillor Reid represents excellent value for this city.

A M Sinclair,

Mulberry Hall,

Stonegate, York.
