WITH reference to your report "Homes lock out", (October 11), young people who are unable to buy their own homes because of high prices in the housing market are going out and spending their salary on entertainment, alcohol and clubbing, rather than saving up for deposits, furniture, decorating, legal fees for a house and so on.

This issue contributes towards the binge drinking problems we read about.

It's because young people cannot afford to buy houses that they spend their surplus money on enjoying themselves.
