RECORD sales are predicted this year for motor retailer smart of York, with sales to date of pre-owned smart cars more than 60 per cent up on last year's figures.
Tony Wright, brand manager at smart of York, which has a new £3.2 million site at the Mercedes-Benz showroom at Clifton Moor, said: "Total sales for 2004 were 186 which we have already passed. We look set for an all time record."
Earlier this year, smart of York was runner-up against 51 other smart retailers across the UK in the smart Dealer Of The Year awards.
smart of York is part of the £82 million turnover Mercedes-Benz North Yorkshire, based at Clifton Moor. Its other sites are at Pannal, near Harrogate, and at Scarborough.
The company, headed by Yorkshire businessman and former rally driver Richard Jackson, employs 157 people.
