Weekend of October 8/9

New sides in thriller

St Clements came out on top as the two newly-elected sides in Leeper Hare League division three played a seven-goal thriller at Osbaldwick.

Glen Palister, Jordan (2) and Danny Liddle netted in their 4-3 win.

A John Knowles penalty gave Cawood the half-time lead at Heworth and, although Tamin Sherls equalised, Andy Oldfield restored their lead after a scramble and Mark Spooner completed the 3-1 win.

Rawcliffe remain rooted to the bottom after they lost 4-3 to LNER Builders.

Tudor Carrington took his tally for the season to six with two goals and Liam King added a third before Darren Mallinson reduced the deficit for Rawcliffe. Steve Crosby netted a fourth for the Builders after the restart, with Rawcliffe almost stealing a point with late strikes from Michael Cammage and an own goal.

College get off the bottom

York St John's moved off the bottom of the Leeper Hare Reserve 'A' table after beating Copmanthorpe 3-0, Chris Edberger netting twice.

Nestle Rowntree were two up at Haxby within three minutes as Wayne Scaife scored the first and made the second for Luke Brownbridge before Haxby put the brakes on. Angus Clapham got one back but it finished 2-1.

Kartiers' poor away form continued as they lost 5-0 at Old Malton, Chris Walton, Steve Boyd, Darren Walker and Ryan McGinty netting.

Tock go Pop

Poppleton, without a win this term, hammered 11 past previously unbeaten Tockwith in the day's biggest surprise, in Leeper Hare League Reserve 'B'. Tim Hudson bagged seven of them.

Paul Broadbent hit his second hat-trick of the season as leaders Bishopthorpe beat White Horse 4-0.

Paul Moss and Phil Jones hit hat-tricks as Rufforth jumped into second with a 7-0 win at Heslington, while a Brad Dunn treble helped stretch Hamilton's unbeaten record as they beat Thorpe 4-2.

Wigginton drew for the third time in five meetings with Easingwold.

Maximum high

Ouseburn remain the only Leeper Hare League Reserve 'C' side with maximum points after they won 2-0 at Huby.

Brothers Shaun (2) and Wayne Linton (2) helped Stillington come from 3-1 down to win 5-4 at Heworth. John Bruce Shaun Hunter scored braces for the hosts.

A speculative lob from his own half from Rob Evans earned Amotherby a 2-1 win against Civil Service.

Danny Wood grabbed York RI a late point at Norwich Union after a Nick Henshaw brace - a penalty and free-kick - put Norwich Union 2-1 up.
