The annual Cambridgeshire Handicap cavalry charge takes place at Newmarket tomorrow and punters could do worse than support 20-1 shot Cimyla.

A maximum field of 30 runners is set for this straight nine-furlong dash, with £130,000 prize money on offer.

Cimyla's jockey Ted Durcan just failed to win the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on the favourite Flashy Wings, who was third.

One of three runners in the race trained by Chris Wall, Cimyla has had a light campaign of only three races, two of them in the spring, which were highly creditable efforts.

His comeback race at Doncaster three weeks ago should have teed him up nicely for tomorrow's target.

Cimyla, having his first outing since April, finished fourth, beaten by a length at Doncaster by My Paris, who he is now set to meet on markedly better terms.

Already a winner over nine furlongs, Cimyla looks well weighted with a number of other rivals tomorrow, including Momtic and Royal Prince.

Drawn in stall 27, Cimyla is surrounded by fancied horses on that side of the course, which is always a plus.

There are dangers everywhere. Pedrillo, a York winner in August, Zetland Gold Cup winner Blue Monday, Tom Tate's useful Another Bottle, and the consistent Crosspeace, one of Mark Johnston's two runners in the race, figure high among them, along with the smart Ashkal Way, trained at Norton by Brian Ellison and the mount of Kieren Fallon.

But Cimyla appeals as a 'dark horse' and is napped to triumph at a fancy price.

The big race at Redcar tomorrow is the £150,000 Totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy. Violette and Gallery Girl, two arch-rivals meet again in this rich contest.

Violette, trained by Sir Mark Prescott, leads 2-0 following encounters in a Doncaster nursery race and a Group 3 event at Ayr.

Much as I would like to see Gallery Girl, trained by Tim Easterby, win this time, it is difficult to see why that should happen, so my vote goes to Violette - with Gallery Girl the main danger.
