HUNDREDS of representatives of businesses both forming and formed will converge on the Merchant Adventurers Hall, in York, on Tuesday for advice from the city's top professionals.

Hugh Bayley, York's MP will open the It's Your Business exhibition, which will be a chance for entrepreneurs to discuss issues and ideas on the twisting road to success.

It is the first of its kind to be organised by the York, Selby & Malton Business Advice Centres whose chief executive, Norman Whyte, left, said: "This is a great opportunity to stimulate interest in self-employment.

"Many people imagine that they are alone with their business concerns, but they are not.

"We hope to demonstrate that on Tuesday with the willing help of many professionals in the city."

The day will feature one to one discussions with business advisers, networking and information offered by a host of exhibitors at 43 stands, including the Red Tape Team, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, Response Accounting and both HSBC and Yorkshire Banks.

Already some of seminars planned throughout the day are fully booked with standing room only, including Effective PR And Marketing, a joint talk by Sarah True of True PR and Sarah Pulleyn of Your Local Link.

Other crowded seminars include Networking As A Marketing Power Tool by solicitor Jane Sachedina, of The Business Network and Why And How I Did It, a description by events organiser Sarah Byrne of the early days of her successful York-based Mosaic Events.

There is still room to attend a seminar by Gareth Preece of RST Consulting of York on Building Your Team, as well as a talk by York solicitors Denison Till on Protecting Your Intellectual Property.
