DERBY day grips Selby and York RUFC tomorrow when the two neighbours clash in a Yorkshire One battle at Clifton Park.

With both sides coming off the back of bad defeats last time out, Sheffield Tigers' surging league performances make this a match neither of the two promotion hopefuls can afford to lose.

A bumper crowd is expected to enjoy the tie, the first league clash since York won promotion to North 2 East two years ago.

Selby have a clean bill of health and will be aiming to bounce back from their narrow 11-10 defeat against Tigers, with a win against their local rivals.

The Sandhill Laners revert to the 15 starters that were originally chosen against the Tigers before full back Shaun Austerfield, centre Andy Gabel and second row forward Rob Triffitt were forced out through injury.

Andy Banks, who replaced Austerfield last week and had a solid game at full back, starts on the bench this week, with Duncan Phillips. Martin Allchurch comes in at prop for Paul Gabel.

Selby will be hoping for a better outcome than the last time the two sides met when a dominant York pack led them to a 34-12 victory in April 2003.

In contrast to full-strength Selby, York go into the game missing key winger and try-scoring machine Rob Kama, who is having an X-ray on a possible wrist fracture.

Flying Fijian Billy Cakaunitabua will line up instead with Nathan McBride, who returns after missing last week's disappointing defeat at Old Crossleyans.

Tom Copeland's hamstring is still causing problems so Mike Westwood will start at full back. In the pack, Kiwi John Sharpe returns from injury with the task of sorting out the Clifton Parkers problematic lineout.

That won't be helped any further by the loss of key jumper and captain Andy Kay, who is forced to miss the keenly anticipated tie.

Stu Davies, having recovered from the rib injury he sustained in the first match against Goole, comes into the team at open-side, with Grant Williams moving over to the blind side in Kay's stead.

On the bench will be second-row Brad Macdonald, who returns after a leg infection, Rob Allen and Olly Councell.
